Hmm. So I left the Calling early as usual, but unusually it wasn't so much because I was tired as because I was ravenous, for no obvious reason since I hadn't forgotten to have dinner or anything like that. Perhaps my unaccustomed bout of exercise yesterday morning was to blame (although I can't easily imagine that, since it didn't burn that many calories!). Accordingly I grabbed a burger from Gardies before going home, and was disappointed to find it soggy and substandard. I'm sure they were much better when I was an undergrad.

I was still pretty tired by the time I went to bed, though, and slept like a log … but still woke up half an hour early, so I had nothing better to do than go running again. If I keep this up, I'll either get fit or start sleeping better, which I suppose is better than doing neither of those things. Could still do with a way of achieving both at once though :-)

My shoulders are stiff this morning. My legs are stiff too, but that's easily explained by the running. But I had no idea my shoulders were putting serious effort into running as well!

Or maybe you were just less discerning... ;)

Well, there's always that possibility too :-) But I do clearly recall the buns being slightly crispy rather than damp.

I remember them being mildly damp if there was a queue, because they wouldn't toast them as much.

FWIW I think I've heard that exercising can help you sleep better.

You'd certainly expect it to, if nothing else because you'd be more tired! I just rather liked the thought that if I take some exercise every time I can't sleep, then I'm guaranteed to get plenty of exercise if and only if I don't start sleeping better :-) Perhaps at some point the exercise will cause my sleep to improve, at which point I'll stop taking so much exercise, get less fit, start sleeping badly again, start taking exercise and so on, eventually converging to some equilibrium point where I'm perpetually not quite fit enough to sleep properly...
