Phew. Well, that was a bit of a struggle.

I've now got a 32" wide screen TV in my flat. Many thanks and not a few pints of beer are due to [livejournal.com profile] cjwatson, who came round and helped me lug it out of the car, up the stairs and into its place on its distinctly some-assembly-required cabinet/stand. Without him it would still be sitting in the car; it is that heavy.

(In fact I was briefly worried that if I couldn't get anyone to come and help me with it, it might have to stay in the car until I did, and it might get stolen. Then I thought about it, and realised that if I couldn't get it out of the car then no car criminal would manage it! And even if they did, they'd have to carry it down the street at a snail's pace, and by the time the police arrived they might just have got as far as the Carlton. Where they would certainly have stopped for a pint after all that work :-)

Now I think a long bath is in order. Probably followed by a lazy evening of slumping on the sofa in front of my new toy.

Surely the car criminal would just steal the car as well?

Depends. Given the number of stereo thefts I hear about, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a fairly large class of car criminals who aren't competent to hot-wire an ignition and only know how to break windows and pinch valuable items from inside...

What *will* the neighbours think?
