Actually I don't universally dislike soup any more; while I was going out with Vicky she managed to find various kinds of soup that were actually nice.

I haven't eaten much soup since we split up, though, because every time I buy one it turns out to be nasty or weird. I can only conclude that Vicky is still much better than I am at finding the nice soup among the rubbish :-)

I think I was aware of that. I don't trust myself to make soup you'll like, though. Well, other than the lentil thing which was the first one you liked, but I'm not even sure I could recreate that after this length of time.
