No, nothing that clever. I sounded confused because when I'm supposed to be doing four or more things at the same time, I only bother remembering the two or three I'm most likely to do, and lovely as doseybat's party no doubt was, lovely/necessary things are piling up at the moment. I did remember it had changed venues, but had no idea whence from or wither to.

Also because when I have too much to do, I cope by concentrating wholeheartedly on doing one thing at a time, so when people start talking about others I always get confused.

Also because I'm not very good with telephones.

Fair enough :-) All of that sounded like a perfectly good reason at the time, but in retrospect it suddenly occurred to me that there might also have been a specific reason why you hadn't heard very much about a party in Purley recently...
