I usually find starting with "Er.. no" and then going on to explain why this is total anathema, finishing up with pointing out that none of this is negotiable, is good. Responses to that can clearly be ignored and you do at least stand half a chance of opening someone's mind a tad.

Of course in my usual overaltruistic style this usually costs me effort and energy :/
