Actually I spent some of the night talking to people that I didn't particularly want to talk to (anyone who reads this, I'm almost certainly not referring to you) and would much rather have spent that time talking to you.
I do like the phrase "for a moment there I felt like a major airline".

Now you mention it, I think I did notice you talking to someone who looked distinctly out of place, and I wondered if you needed rescuing. Should I have? :-/
