Life is skittles and life is beer

I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring. At least, some sorts of spring. The spring I like is neither uncomfortably warm nor uncomfortably cold, and it's full of pretty but not actually inconvenient weather effects such as light April showers, pleasant thin mists (not serious fog) in the mornings, wall-to-wall rainbows, complicated cloud arrangements with unexpected lighting, and so forth.

Today we have clear blue skies and an uninterrupted stream of sunlight, which caused my car to be a greenhouse when I nipped out shopping at lunchtime. This is the wrong spring; this is summer-only-less-so. If I want summer, I can wait until June; for now I'd like some proper spring before it stops being, well, the season for it.

Direct sunlight == warmer roads == stickier tyres.

I like today  :)

See that's where you're going wrong. Absolutely perfect weather for cycling at the moment. Or just sitting in the sunshine doing nothing and watching the world go by.

To anyone else I'd point out that for me "sitting in the sunshine" is synonymous with "sunburning" and has therefore never been one of my favourite sports. However, all my most vivid memories of you in summertime include a vicious-looking sunburn that's almost painful just to look at, so perhaps this won't sway you :-)

I don't usually get burnt when sitting around doing nothing though: it's if I'm out doing stuff in the sunshine and not paying attention to it: cycling, the folk festival, painting the door on the front of our house. And spring sunshine is definitely safer for enjoying than summer. Wearing lots of black helps, cos you get too hot before you stand a chance of the uncovered bit actually burning :-)

I don't burn quite as easily as you do though, which I think is why I've never learnt to be quite cautious enough about it. I only usually get got about once or twice a year though, and after the first 24 hours it usually looks a lot worse than it feels.

Dear me, some people are never satisfied! :)

I think it's lovely weather. I will go and wibble about the weather in my own LJ though.

this is absolutely perfect weather. well, perhaps not quite warm enough, but if the weather were like this from march to september i would be perfectly happy. and probably a good deal more productive and less depressed, too ...

Sorry, no. I've got no spare codes, and if I did have one I'd be more likely to give it to someone I actually knew.
