Last night's pub trip almost didn't materialise, as a result of nobody having made a decision about which pub to go to until it was nearly too late. I went along to the pub we selected, and went straight home again because nobody was there. An hour later I got a phone call from said pub, where people had eventually turned up after all, so I went back there and lost at pool to Mobbsy.
Pool is weird after having played a lot of snooker. On the one hand, it ought to be so much easier just because the table is smaller; but on the other hand, the pockets are smaller too so it's not that much easier, and also the tactics are totally different. I certainly played a lot better than I did the last time I played pool; but I still just about lost. Right at the end of the game I was betrayed by a too-close wall not giving me enough room to extend the cue fully, which might have swung the game if it hadn't happened, but I'm not sure. Ah well.
Of course, bar billiards is the true prince of such games.
