Eeeek. Well, I slept OK last night, so I was pretty much all right today, but it looks as if I'll be short of sleep tomorrow as well, because I got mugged on the way back from the pub and the police have only just left after taking a statement.

I'm not hurt or anything, and they only got away with about L35 in notes, so all the inconvenient-to-replace cards and things in my wallet are intact. But I suspect I might be a bit more nervous about walking home alone at night for a while :-(

Now I'm going to go and see if I can sleep. I suspect that won't be hard, actually, since I just tried to outrun a bicycle, and in spite of being some distance out of condition I very nearly managed it. So I'm completely knackered and probably won't have the energy to have a frantic wibbling fit...

Oh, and the police gave me incident number 666, which I'm compos mentis enough to find terribly amusing :-)

Aw Simon *hugs* what the hell is the world coming to? It seems more and more bad things are happening lately and it's worse when it's someone you actually know.
Maybe not walking home by yourself might be a good idea. I thought it was supposed to be safe there though!

Oh no! Poor you! It's good you aren't hurt. Where were you? They mugged you from a bicycle? Bizarre.
The only bad thing that's happened to me wandering around Cambridge on my own was in Chesterton churchyard on a Sunday afternoon, which was strange too. Anyway, much sympathy.

I first saw them on foot, then they caught me up on a bicycle. I ran like hell and got within 50 yds of my front door before they caught me up again, by which time I was completely knackered and couldn't have put up a fight even if I'd wanted to... No idea where they got the bike from; they didn't have it when I first saw them. I suppose it's possible they nicked it or something.

I'm mostly OK today. Bit shaken; the shock didn't really hit me until after I'd finished giving a statement.

Thanks for the sympathy. And to Sue and Eleanor too (the LJ interface is sufficiently annoying that I'm not about to post separate replies to all three of you; no offence meant :-)

Argh, too many Eleanors. But you certainly have my sympathy too! Give us a yell if you want company at any point.

*Hugs* I hope you're not too shaken. Alex got mugged about a month back, so I hope these things don't come in threes :(

Oh no :( That sounds completely awful. After my jollification outside Selwyn a few years ago, I can sympathise about how shaky you feel afterwards :/.

Despite that, I don't generally feel nervous going anywhere at night in Cam, though I suspect being on a bike helps in this regard.
