That's going to take a little getting used to

As of yesterday, apparently, I am now Uncle Simon.

See, I know this can only happen by proxy :) (i.e. via Gareth)

Just wait till the sprog is old enough to appreciate marble runs and Lego. I'm reliably informed this is a fun stage.

Marble runs are awesome. Train tracks are fun even earlier and provide great scope for route design.

Congratulations! I suggest you practice being disreputable and buying inappropriate, preferably noisy, gifts.

I think I'll reserve 'Baby's First Electric Guitar' for if Sophie ever really annoys me :-)

Whoopee! Enjoy several years to come of being the backup discipline: "Go to bed" "No" "Uncle Simon says go to bed" "I don't believe you" *phone phone phone*

Aw, that's lovely.
I can see you as a marvellous Uncle :)
And just think: all the fun and not much of the responsibility!

Nah. No problem. Happened to me about eighteen months ago. It's fine.

Congrats, obviously.

If I had, I wouldn't stop keeping it secret now just because you asked! :-)

Congratulations!
I recommend a company called Bruin. They makes brightly coloured plastic toys with really loud music and sound effects that kids seem to love. There's no off button and when the child finally puts it down, it waits 5 minutes before spontaneously beeping to get their attention back again.

My Brother should have been nicer to me as a child :-)
