One of those days

When you try to test someone's recent bug fix, and can't because the compiler crashes, so you try to build an up-to-date version of the compiler and the build system crashes too, I think you're justified in muttering something involving the phrase ‘game of soldiers’ and going home.

You could try my day. I've been slowly coming to the conclusion that the bug I can't reproduce is in neither the customers' code, nor ours, but in the JNI stack they're using.

I used that phrase to an American the other day and they stared at me like I was an alien. Apparently they don't say it here.

If you said bugger they thought you literally meant sodomy, as well.

I can sort of understand, it is, thinking about it, a singularly confusing phrase. But surely anyone can get the general idea...?
