D'oh

I just muttered under my breath to myself ‘I must stop trying to predict the future. It's going to get me in trouble some day…’

*cackles* brilliant.

When do you want to meet up for this cup of tea again?

Aha, well remembered. Yes. As of now I'm off work for the next two weeks and have no daytime appointments yet, so pick an afternoon that's convenient for you :-)

The Monday after the one that's coming up, at 3?

That sounds fine, provided Borders hasn't done something inconvenient due to it being a bank holiday. Their website seems noncommittal, but they stay open until 5 on Sundays so they'll probably do the same on a bank holiday.

Still, I suppose, even if they do do something unhelpful we can always just go somewhere else. So Monday 28th, 3pm, is now in my calendar.

Not another bank holiday?! So there was one at the beginning of April, because I went to A&E and couldn't get substitute antibiotics, then there was one at the start of May, because I couldn't take my tonsilitis-riddled self to the GP and had to use the emergency doctor service.

I suspect therefore that I am going to be ill because it is a bank holiday, and I will let you know if this is the case.

If we define unintentional irony to be trouble, the statement also becomes self-fulfilling.

I have found the owner of that there brolly - it's [livejournal.com profile] sleeperwaking and she is going to contact you when she has finished her exams in a couple of weeks.

Ooh, well done. (Though I thought tracking her down was [livejournal.com profile] atreic's job. Did she delegate to you, or did you do this entirely proactively as a totally above-the-call-of-duty response to me happening to mention it to you in the street?)

I saw your comment on [livejournal.com profile] atreic's journal, then remembered I had seen her with [livejournal.com profile] fiona_kitty at the Beer Festival on Friday, so I asked Fiona who she was :)

Fair enough. Well, [livejournal.com profile] atreic probably owes you a drink then, although it might be a little inconvenient to collect :-)

Hmm. It now occurs to me that it's been more than a month since you said that, and she never did. Do you happen to know if the address on her LJ is a sensible way to get in touch with her, or indeed if she's still even in the right town to have her brolly returned?

No I don't; you could try giving her a poke on LJ and an email, then if she doesn't reply you end up with a free brolly :)
