The obvious answer is to invite friends around to stand on the corners and make your job easier :)
And have you considered writing to Parkside nick, explaining that you understand you may be causing them unnecessary waste of resources by being a bizarre bedroom-light-freak-person, and inviting them over to look round?
I hadn't, but I don't think I want to. I can't be wasting that much of their time if all they're doing is standing around thinking "hmm, I wonder" and asking Becky strange questions when she happens to drop in for a different reason. And on general principles I think that if their criminal profiles match particular types of innocent people as well as criminals, it's their problem not mine; I might (and do) find it amusing but I'm damned if I'm going to be made to feel guilty about it.
If they were to show up at my door, with or without a search warrant, I'd be happy to let them in and put their minds at rest, and give them a cup of tea to express my gratitude for indirectly letting me know of the existence of dedicated blackout sheeting :-) But that's as far as I go, I think, and even letting them in without a warrant would be beyond the strict call of duty.

I initially read this as a suggestion that if Simon's friends lurked around on the street corners near his flat, then it would accelerate the process of receiving his very own dawn raid :)
