hello! off topic question, if i can trouble you? i'm interested in the house on the corner which i believe is next door to you, which is for sale. i wondered how you get on with the school being so close? do you find it noisy? are there millions of cars in the morning and afternoon? is there any trouble? thanks for any useful info you are able to share! :)
There is a bit of traffic when I'm trying to get out of the road in the morning to go to work, but it's not unmanageable in general. No problem in the evening (presumably because school and work finish at different times so it spreads out more than the morning rush hour).
A friend of mine did once get beaten up a the far end next to the shop and the Carlton, so I'm generally at least slightly alert when walking past there. But I've never heard of any trouble in this road itself: just to give you a positive story as well as a negative one, I once went out at four in the afternoon and got back at midnight to discover I'd accidentally left the front door open. Not just unlocked, but actually gaping wide open - and there was no trace of anybody having come in, nothing missing, no problems at all. Any street in which you can do that can't be too bad! (Which, of course, hasn't stopped me being unbelievably cautious about it since then.)
Children walking past to school can occasionally get a bit noisy (particularly when it's snowed!), but not seriously so. As for noise in general ... well, there's currently building work going on on the school which occasionally shakes the house, and the flat next door tends to shout a lot when the football's on, but generally it's pretty peaceful.
If there were a house for sale round here which was sensibly within my price range, I'd probably consider buying it myself. The biggest problems I have with living here are issues with my specific flat (slightly dodgy heating and plumbing, that sort of thing).
thank you very much for your helpful advice! we figured out today that it's actually a primary school, so it doesn't seem so bad. also i noticed that the road is wide enough for two lanes of parked cars and two lanes of moving traffic, so it should be able to cope with whatever the school throws at it.
i'm not sure i'd be heading towards carlton way very often, but the warning is noted. i find that the only thing i hear from one of my neighbours is football noises. my parents were here once, and were annoyed that the neighbours were watching on analog and we were on cable, and we had a time delay of a second or two... so they could hear the shouts through the wall just before they saw the goal occur, which was quite a surreal experience!
i'll let you know if we get any further towards the house in our upcoming house moving extravaganza!
