I just had a very silly thought.

Fully formed into my brain sprang the idea of the US Constitution displayed as a LJ or other blog entry. At the bottom there would be a pair of links along the lines of

27 amendments | Add an amendment

and if you clicked through to the ‘comments’ page, the first comment would start off

F1RST 4M3NDM3NT!!1!

I was almost tempted to actually mock up a page or two, but that really is too much effort in the pursuit of such a small joke…

I don't see anything in it to do with the pursuit of happiness. But then, I'm looking at a preview of it with the next amendment written in...

Dick Cheney's tacking a rider on to Bush's "Marriage is between a man and a woman" amendment, which gives every American:
'The right to the pursuit of profit, by all means, with blatant disregard for the well-being of others.'

Is that close enough for you?

The bit about the pursuit of happiness is in the declaration of independence, not the constitution.

Maybe the 21st amendment should be a reply to the 18th amendment? Although that might not fit the blog template you’re using. But still, it would be cute :-)

I wondered if the 18th should read "post deleted", alternatively. Too many jokes, too few instances...

I updated it to be struck and marked 0WN3D. Plus more linkage within the page. The only thing obviously left is correction of the dates to match ratification and repeals, but it seems the app doesn't handle 4-digit dates properly, so I may choose to forget to do that. :)

Hrmmm, that would be cool, but you're right, I'm just using Grey Matter and it doesn't let you comment on comments.

I'm going to go back and have links to the various comments, since they can and do contain html.

But, my steam and interest in it have somewhat waned.
