So, I went to the beer festival last night in the spirit of experiment, and my body seems to be basically able to deal with alcohol again. What a relief. Although I'm still somewhat more hung over than I would expect from the amount of beer I drank, but that's easy to explain just because it was a beerfest rather than a normal pub. Beer festivals are the only place I've ever found where you can suffer a mixed-drinks hangover after drinking nothing but beer!

Just like last year, I attempted to find a comfortable way to sit on the floor with everyone else, and failed. Next year I ought to try bringing along something comfortable to sit on. A folding chair, perhaps, or a shooting-stick.

And, of course, just like last year it suddenly decided to bucket down with rain and the inside of the tent got very crowded. Next year the organisers should have a quiet word with that Thor chappy. Perhaps a couple of complimentary firkins might persuade him to keep his hammer to himself for the requisite few days.

It's less crowded on the other side of the bar and the beer is cheaper

It's also terribly busy and you end up knackered, and in my case pissed off last night.

Which is why I work from the very start of the session when's it not so busy and then wander off to get food.

I generally do that although once you've had food you have to go back to the busy bar. Last night I went there to just drink and got dragged in to help because they were so busy.

Last year I went to work in the shed^H^Hgate, though I see they have a nice tent now.

I've not yet seen a queue, so it seems the tent idea with multiple lanes works quite well.

If you get a chance to have any...

The beer can be as cheap as it likes - in a busy session there's no time to drink it.

I didn't work this year because I was only up for 2 days...

Maybe he's trying to point out that they should include mead in their list of available beverages?

Mead?

REally, as an Anglo-Saxonist, I ought to try mead. At least once. But possibly not when I might be drinking other things too. That could be a receipt for disaster.
