General updates

Alcohol update: drank some port at post-pizza last night, and once again didn't feel terribly good this morning. Not nearly as bad as the last couple of times, but then I didn't drink nearly as much port as I did beer at the weekend, and the grottiness still seemed out of proportion to the amount of alcohol consumed. I think I'm going to have to go on a sobriety jag for a bit. Gah.

Hayfever update: I've spent a couple of weeks being suspicious that my hayfever season had started. Yesterday morning and this morning, that suspicion became certainty. Gah twice.

General update: I appear to be having a military-grade attack of the singles. Multiple Gah with a side salad. (But it'll almost certainly pass; they usually do.)

No lightly-grilled stoat with French Fries?

Sorry about the sneezing. That happens. Hayfever is here. As also is a giant thunderstorm. I presume the building has a lightning conductor, and fortunately I have a surge protector.
Pity about the alcohol - it is doing similar things to me at the moment. Mine was mostly stress, though.

Is it not likely that your grottiness / potential problem with alcohol is tightly tied to the onset of your hayfever? One of my ex's used to have 'early' hayfever, and was generally run-down for the first few weeks of spring, then would perk up again even though the hayfever still went on for another few weeks. Some kind of adjustment period?

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough. Could it be some additive in the alcohol rather than the alcohol itself? - I know I've been warned against red wine by asthma doctors because of the sulphites in it. Don't know if it can cause rhinitis as well - you'd have to ask a biochemist.

Gah, I'm using lynx in putty and I can't make it copy and paste. Hope I copy it right:

www.ukparents.co.uk/archives/az_food_allergy.shtml

says that beer has got sulphites in as well as wine. But I've got no idea how many other zillions of preservatives or what other things it *might* have in it and which *might* make you ill etc, just that that is known as a "standard" asthma trigger, which is why they warn you against it. Remind me later and I'll dig out my books on additives.

And all the biochemists I know are a pretty wild bunch ;-)
