And today's Naked Opportunism award:

This morning I had mail from a recruitment agent, who found my email address on my personal web site and noticed who I work for, and has invited me to send him a CV. Right now, before anyone has the faintest idea who's going to be made redundant and who's not.

I'm sorely tempted to mail him back and say something along the lines of "Don't you know it's traditional among vultures to wait for the animal to stop kicking before you start eating it?". The only thing stopping me is the very faint possibility, if all goes outstandingly badly, that I might just need him after all before this is over...

Your error here would be that of ranking recruiters on a par with vultures ;)

(besides which, when this happened to Pace, most people were calling the recruiters long before the decisions were made)

Same thing happened to me with the whole Enron collapse thing. I was getting three calls a day at one point. It's pretty standard practice.

Brave new world which has such people. Innit?

*hugs*

Also, if it's some random recruiter you've never even heard of, go for it. There are hundreds more out there and they'd all kill for someone with your skills.

Agencies work OK when the going's good, but are a complete waste of time in a poor employment market, i.e. at the moment.
