Nope, I was wrong: it wasn't as easy as all that to go to sleep last night. Finally managed it at about 4am.

Woke up this morning still feeling shaken and trembling, and also very annoyed (which I didn't seem to have the energy for last night). Decided to go in to work as usual (though a bit late) on the grounds that it'd keep my mind off things and there's plenty I can do today that doesn't require too much brain.

For some reason when I got out of bed I suddenly felt an extremely strong desire for a nice hot bath, which strikes me as a slightly odd reaction to things. (I also felt an extremely strong desire for a breakfast roughly the size of the Isle of Wight, but that's more understandable...)

Bah. And grr. This is not a good note on which to start my lovely long holiday. :-(
