Ow, owowow, ow. New shoes. Stiff fresh leather. OW.

I've needed a new pair of shoes for some months now, if not years. Yesterday it poured with rain at lunchtime and I discovered that one of my old ones had egregiously failed to be waterproof, and when it still hadn't dried out this morning I decided it was time to bite the bullet and buy a new pair, since at least that way I'd have dry feet for the afternoon.

I'm now sitting here and wondering if I wouldn't rather have a damp foot than this. I know they'll wear in in a week or so, but even so, ow and arrgh.
