Mmmmm. Slept like a log last night; I feel so much better this morning I barely believe it. :-)

Yesterday evening people came round and watched my copy of WarGames, which was fun. I'd only seen the actual film once before and barely remembered it, but I had a copy of the novelisation when I was quite little and read it so many times I practically knew it by heart; so watching it again was a slightly weird experience because many of the bits I remembered best weren't there. Still good fun though, so that was all right.

Also yesterday evening, I finally took my leave of the flat in Howard Close; my ex-landlady now has all the keys and I have a respectable amount of my deposit back. Unfortunately the other thing she gave me yesterday evening was my credit card bill, which had arrived at my old address, and whose balance looks disturbingly similar to the value of the deposit I'd just retrieved. So much for dashing down to World of Computers and celebrating with some unnecessary toys…

Phew, that's a weight off my mind!

When I got my deposit back last night, I got it in cash, because my then-ex-landlady-to-be had been trying to get her bank to send her a cheque book for a month without success. So I just took a lunchtime trip into the centre of town carrying seven hundred and ten pounds in cash on my person, and paid it into my bank account.

I think that's the largest amount of cash I've ever carried anywhere. It beats the six hundred Gareth and I ferried across town during the process of letting the Gallery.

(Over half of it was in tens and twenties, as well, which made it quite a hefty wad. Apparently the landlady's bank had run out of fifties as well as cheque books…)
