Hmmm. I've just had one of those "D'oh!" moments.
I've been coughing and wheezing a lot for the last few days, and wondering why. There's been a cold going round but I thought I was over it; it could be hayfever but it seems to hit at different times of day from the sneezing; my mild asthma (so mild I forget it exists for a year or more at a time) is probably playing a part but it usually needs to be triggered by something else. A puzzle.
I've just noticed that it's really damp in my flat. That would explain it all on its own, I suspect. Perhaps when I go shopping tomorrow I should buy a dehumidifier and see if that helps.
It's not even as if this phenomenon is new to me; I coughed for months in my second year at university and eventually realised that was because the room was damp. I suppose taking a week to realise is therefore an improvement on last time, but I still feel a bit silly for not having thought of it sooner...
