Then again, perhaps I won't buy a dehumidifier, since (a) I feel much better this morning than I did yesterday and (b) a quick websearch suggests that a decently powerful dehumidifier is big, bulky and pretty expensive. I'll save that option for a last resort, I think...

I noticed this week that one of my neighbours has found a creative solution to the dustbin men's policy of not taking more than one wheely-bin-ful of rubbish each week. I've always solved this problem by driving to the tip with any excess, but this has struck me as an unsatisfactory solution since it relies on me having a car, which is fine for me but wouldn't work for others. But one of the other residents of this end of my street has come up with a much more elegant hack: they have two wheely bins, both with the same house number painted on. Since everybody leaves the bins out on the pavement and it isn't obvious which one goes with which house, the binmen apparently empty both and never realise they're from the same house! How cunning is that?
