So Luke and Darth Vader are having their lightsaber duel in Cloud City, and Vader is just about to reveal Luke's parentage and offer him co-rulership of the Galaxy…

… but at that point he might perfectly well have thought ‘oh, sod it’ and just killed him. Easier dead than son.

BTW, just to get that terrible pun out of my head, something I'd been meaning to ask: how do you pronounce your surname? I had been assuming the first syllable should rhyme with cat, but Jif thought the first syllable should rhyme with faith (an option that had never even occurred to me).

He's right. It's pronounced "Tay-tham", with the th unvoiced (as in "think", as opposed to voiced as in "this").

(However, other branches of the family tree have been known to pronounce it differently, just to be helpful :-)
