Imaginary bing!

I was jolted awake by the first ‘bing!’ of my alarm clock.

But wait – I'm on holiday this week, so my alarm clock ought not to be turned on!

And it's not. I'd managed to dream the sound. And once the first dream-bing had woken me up, the second bing never came, because by that time I was awake enough to realise the alarm clock wasn't ringing after all.

All right, that's just one of those hilarious japes dreams play on you. But the impressive part was that the dream bing occurred within 2 minutes of my actual alarm time!
