The problem is that there are lots of over-zealous designers who would be very good scientists or painters or actors or furniture-makers, but they were taught at school that people can't do things they weren't told to do, and nobody told them to see if they could do something with their enthusiasm instead of sitting cross-legged on the floor pretending to be stupid so they enthusiastically design things over and over again as a substitute for enthusiastically doing something useful.
